Cleveland Dragon Boat Association

Welcome to the Cleveland Dragon Boat Association

The 2018 dragon boat season in Cleveland is here! The CDBA, a non-profit, 501c3 organization, is the umbrella organization for Greater Cleveland teams and coordinates an annual festival and race-day. This year's festival was held on Aug. 11, 2018 at Black River Landing in Lorain, Ohio. Please enjoy the race and festivity photos! Cal Pusateri from the Cleveland Photographic Society shared his gallery from the day. Those photos are available - free for download, prints for purchase (no affiliation with the CDBA). Accessible, Fun Amateur Sport

Dragon boating is great exercise, offers wonderful camaraderie, and is open to people of all ages and abilities. We are a VERY affordable sport; it’s $75 for a season pass, or $5 per practice session. Festival fees vary, depending on the type of team.

We have corporate-sponsored teams, cancer-survivor teams, and community teams. Area organizations and businesses foster team-building through both one-time outings as well as on-going practice and festival racing. New teams may form at any time!

      How do I join?

If you’re interested in learning more about dragon boating, you can email us at or call us at 440-399-7373. Starting in June, we’ll be offering Learn to Paddle instruction at Rivergate Park (in front of the Merwin’s Wharf restaurant) at 1785 Merwin Avenue in the Flats. Register by filling out a waiver, and contact any team captain for a seat on the boat.
